CHRISTMAS IN CORTONA

Imagine a winter evening: the ancient stones of Cortona shimmer beneath a thousand twinkling lights, and the air is rich with the scent of sweets and spices.

It’s the time when the city is ushered into wonder: from December 1st to January 6th, during Christmas of Stars - Lights and Reflections, the streets light up, the windows prepare to shine, and the heart of Cortona throbs with special enchantment.

The historic center is transformed into a treasure chest of magic: in Piazza Signorelli, under a large "crystal cover" performances, projections and lights dance on the ancient walls. 

In Piazza Garibaldi, a large transparent sphere welcomes the dreams and smiles of the little ones: here, gastronomic delights and local food and wine products become the stars of the festivities. Little wooden houses crowded with handmade gifts, old-time decorations and local crafts dot the streets.

In the municipal palace, the facade comes alive with an evocative video mapping, a tribute to the art of Luca Signorelli, while in the luminaria-covered alleys one can encounter "artificial" snowfall that seems to have come out of a dream. 

And there is no shortage of Santa's House: inside Palazzo Ferretti, children bring their little letters, exchange a few words with him, take pictures and live that moment with wonder in their eyes.

Among the hamlets in the area, living nativity scenes are set up, such as the one in Pietraia, which restore the essence of Christmas with simplicity and participation. 

Meanwhile, in the streets and squares, concerts, theatrical events and performances enrich the evenings, accompanying visitors until New Year's Eve immersed in an atmosphere of celebration and contemplation.

Markets open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering crafts, culinary delights, children's workshops, music and light projections for all ages.
